We have now heard that the Defence Select Committee have called a special hearing for the 23rd April to discuss the issue of the proposed closure of the GE Rugby manufacturing facility.

This is St. Georges Day, and could well be a good omen for us as we seek to slay this particular dragon of closure. Employees have been asked to give evidence and informed sources tell us that the Select Committee will be writing to the Power Conversion CEO Azeez ...

The Chair of the Defence Select Committee have written to the to the Minister for Defence Procurement telling him to revisit the issue of GE Power Conversion in Rugby. They realise the importance of the need to maintain the national sovereign capability of the nation to be able to build and maintain equipment for the Royal Navy here in the UK.
